1.What is Piped Natural Gas (PNG)?
PNG is mainly methane – CH4 with a small percentage of other higher hydrocarbons. The ratio of carbon to hydrogen is least in methane and hence it burns almost completely making it the cleanest fuel.It is procured from the oil / gas wells and transported through a network of pipelines across the country
2. Is there any Storage Space required for Gas inside the Society premise/ near the House?
No. there isn’t any storage space required; the Gas is transmitted via the Pipeline laid by BGL.
3. Who owns and is responsible for laying the pipelines for PNG supply?
The Pipeline up to the consumer’s kitchen is laid, owned, and is the responsibility of BGL. In case of damage to the equipment installed at the customer’s premises by the customer, applicable charges shall be recovered before replacement/rectification from the customer only. Underground low-pressure pipes (polyethylene) are laid till the building, and from the bottom of the building to individual residences, GI pipes are used for piping.
4. What is the Billing Cycle?
Billing Cycle is bi-monthly.
5. How is the Bill generated?
Bills are generated on the actual usage of the gas.
The meter reader (BGL authorized agency’s person) carrying a valid ID card would come to your home once in 2 months for meter reading or The customer can submit his meter reading with photo through BGL consumer care app or The consumer can also call up the customer care (040-23234701/4702) and communicate the meter reading or In absence of the actual meter reading, average/assessed bills will be generated.
6. What are the various Bill/ Security Deposit Payment mode/s?

7. Are there any different instruments/ accessories that resident will have to purchase as the Gas supplied is Natural Gas and not LPG?
The conventional appliance can be adapted to the PNG network by changing the “Nozzles” only. These are provided by BGL at no extra cost.
8. What if there’s a breakdown in the network due to govt. road repair work?
In case of breakdown, the same has to be communicated to the Emergency Team who will address the issue promptly. This team is functional 24 x 7. There’s regular patrolling done to avoid any kind of accidents due to leakages.
9. Is the supply of PNG regular?
Yes, the supply is absolutely regular. The pipeline distribution network is based on an on-line supply system that consists of safety valves and regulators that regulate the pressure.
10. What is a Domestic PNG connection?
A domestic PNG connection includes laying of pipeline network up to appliance (for a single cooking appliance) along with necessary fittings, pressure regulator, meter and conversion of LPG appliance to PNG.
11. What is the time line for providing PNG Connection?
Upon registration, BGL shall put its best efforts to lighten up the appliance of customer with Natural Gas within three months.
12. How Does Gas pipeline reaches to our house?
For various cities BGL gets the source natural gas through the main transportation pipe and receives it at city gate station and steel grid network is developed. To regularize the pressure of the gas, District Regulatory System is installed. Further a network of MDPE, is developed to reach to different societies and buildings etc. The regulator, followed by raiser with GI pipeline is installed which is connected to a meter. A GI/copper pipe and further rubber tubing is done to get PNG reach to stoves.
13. What is the procedure for PNG Domestic Registration?
The Registration can be done in three ways

The prospective customer will enquire online through the BGL website or offline by calling customer care for a new PNG connection. The customerhas to pay the interest-free refundable security deposit & processing charge by mode mentioned in Sr. no. 6.

14. What all documents are required for registration?
Identity Proof (Any one of the following: Aadhar Card/PAN Card/ Passport/Voter Id Card/ Driving License/Ration Card) and Proof of ownership of the establishment (Copy of Sale Deed Agreement/Rent Agreement/Electricity bill/BSNL Telephone bill/Society Certificate etc.)
15. Is Piped Natural Gas, as a domestic fuel, better than LPG?
Yes, Domestic PNG is a safe, continuous supply, economical, less cost of maintenance, no hassle for booking, storage space and underweight cylinders, payment as per the usage, environment-friendly and convenient fuel.
No advance payment for the consumption of gas, billing will be done once in two months based on consumption.

17. What do you mean by Commercial PNG?
Requirement of Fuel for Commercial Units like hotels, restaurants, malls shopping complex etc. can be categorized for commercial PNG
18. Is it required to change the LPG appliance for switch over to PNG?
PNG works on a cooking appliance just like LPG does. It is not required to change the appliance, with minor modifications LPG appliance can be easily converted to PNG.
19 What are the guidelines to surrender LPG?
Customer may kindly take note of the provision of The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) order, 2000 as amended vide notification dated December 16, 2013 which has mentioned of supply of LPG under Public Distribution System (PDS) i.e. subsidized to a PNG domestic consumer as ‘prohibited activity. However, with LPG control order letter dated 09th January 2014 you can retain one LPG connection and the Government oil companies shall provide the refill at the non-subsidized rate.
